Allegedly end of this month now. You're all bored now, aren't you?

Hurrah..its happened!

What it actually will mean for aerotow tugs has yet to be established, but the ball is well and truly rolling.

I think it's for the tuggies and CACs to get in touch with Mark Dale ASAP.

Looks like we are waiting for the CAA to confirm that the exemption for towing will be extended to SSDR.

Just to revive this:

The exemption has not been blanket extended yet but there is an SSDR trial going with a tug, AIUI.

The tug is called the FoxTug, it's a Flylight FoxCub with a 582 Blue Top engine. this good for 64 hp.

The FoxTug was finished at Flylight just after their birthday bach, and has since been seen flying.

Turn around times should be good and climb rates with glider attached are rumoured to be getting on for 950+ ft/min.

Any more feedback on towing with the FoxTug?

Steve, I'm sure you have seen stuff already. FoxTug is being evaluated by Tug Pilots and HG pilots at the moment. Data recorded and ready for submission to various 'powers that be' if required. Two really successful 'sessions' at Croft Farm so far (as well as the Sywell stuff) Last weekend and two weeks back at Croft Farm. Some of the stuff has already been published by Donald and Ben on FaceBook (See British Hangies and Microlight Pilots FB pages). But it is really impressive on climb rate and seems easy for the Tug Pilot to handle and all HG pilots so far express how easy it is to hold station behind, besides being so easy and quick to pack away (and transport if required). SSDR running costs and takes up very little hangar space/cost and minimal risk of 'hangar rash' when packed.

Seen the stuff, more this weekend and have flown the FoxCub on which the tug is based. Reviewed it for MF and Skywings....

Is anyone doing a piece for Skywings or MF?
