Well 2011 was my
first year of running the ground handling clinics and what a year it
was, many many pilots booked and everyone loved them, I even had some
pilot's re-book so that was very cool to see. I hope it's made some
of you safer more confident pilots but you have to keep practising!
So for 2012 I have
come up with something new that I feel is also missing! It's a FLY/GUIDING
CLINIC that will run for a weekend and will start with the Saturday
morning with me going through HARNESS SETTING'S on each and every one's
harness, chest strap and seat board settings are very very important
indeed and can make very big differences in turbulent air. Also set
wrong can make for a very hard time getting your wing back under control
after a deflation. Then we can move on to how to do a good LAUNCH and
depending on the wind speed and direction where to launch from as this
makes a massive difference! We will spend a lot of time doing launches
for the rest of the day, then we will de-brief on the day and I will
take questions from everyone.
Sunday we move on
to landings from the front of the hill and landings from the crown of
the hill, spotting thermals, when to launch for them and what angle
to come at them from, then what way to thermal in them and when to leave
them and why! Making your next move from cloud base, choosing what xc
flight to do each day depending on wind and sky. I remember many years
ago when I got high I used to panic thinking how the hell to get down
without having to do these "DEATH SPIRALS" I heard about,
so I will show you easy Decent methods that are very chilled way's of
getting down. Dates for these can be found below, bookings and news
on the days will be on my forum when getting closer to the date. The
prices for the whole weekend is just £60 and I will only
take a maximum of 10 pilots so please book quick to save disappointment.
Ground handling
clinic dates will also be run again for 2012 for all levels of pilot
ability. If your a new post cp pilot, a pilot that has had a long lay
off or a pilot that simply wants to get better at canopy control these
day's will help you no end. Rigging in high winds/easy launch &
canopy control techniques, and much more!
We have a 30 acre
field that takes any wind direction here in Bishops Castle Shropshire,
we also have a fantastic camp site and many b&b's in our little
town. Also for the ale drinkers we have our own brewery in town and
I tell you the XXX beer is spot on after a day's paragliding! Each day
costs just £25 per pilot and starts by us meeting at the
poppy house cafe at the top of town at 10:30am.
I will also still
be running fly/guiding all year and again this will stay at £25
a day for groups or you can pay £50 if you would like one to one
fly/guiding.
